What the studio does with your details

Marin Cake Studio collects the details you type into the inquiry form and nothing else you have not offered. This page says what those details are, where they go, and how to get them back or have them deleted.

What the inquiry form collects

The form asks for your name, email address and phone number, the date, type and location of your event, the number of guests, and the flavor and filling you are considering. You can also add design idea links, additional details, and how you heard about the studio.

You may attach photographs for inspiration. Those upload straight from your browser to private storage and are never posted anywhere public.

Where it is stored

Every submission is written to a private archive before anything else happens, so an inquiry cannot be lost to a delivery failure. The archive is not public: a request for a stored submission without credentials is refused.

Inquiries also become orders in Bakery Buddy, the software the studio runs on. That is where your date is held, your quote is written, and your order is tracked through to pickup.

Who reads it

I do. Every inquiry comes to me directly rather than to a queue, and the studio does not sell, rent or trade what you send. It is shared only with the services that make an order work — the mail provider that delivers your inquiry, and Bakery Buddy, which holds the order itself.

What the site measures

Marin Cake Studio uses Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless. It counts page views and a small number of events — an inquiry submitted, a phone number tapped, a directions link opened — so the studio can tell which pages actually help someone order. It does not set a tracking cookie, it does not follow you to other sites, and no name, email address, phone number or event date is ever attached to an event.

If you arrive from a directory listing such as Google, Yelp, The Knot or WeddingWire, the link carries a tag naming the source, and that tag is recorded with your submission. It identifies the listing you came from, not you.

Cookies

The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Gift card checkout is handled by Stripe, which sets its own cookies on its own checkout page for fraud prevention and payment processing.

Affiliate links

The supplies page links to products on Amazon, and the studio earns a small amount on a qualifying purchase. The disclosure on that page carries the full wording. Those links are ordinary Amazon links; the studio receives no information about you from them beyond whether a purchase was attributed.

How long it is kept

Inquiries are kept as long as they are useful to the studio, which for a wedding usually means well past the date itself — a cake ordered in March for an October wedding is a live record for the whole stretch, and past orders are how a returning customer is recognised. Ask and it goes.

Asking for your information, or its removal

Email lindsay@marincakestudio.com and ask. I will tell you what the studio holds, correct anything wrong, or delete it. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and the studio honours the same request from anyone who makes it, resident or not.

The studio does not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

The site is meant for adults ordering cakes. Marin Cake Studio does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. A cake is very often for a child, and a child's first name written on one is a design detail rather than a record about them.

This page is updated when what the studio actually does changes, rather than on a schedule. It was last reviewed in August 2026.
