A Modern Approach to Wedding Cakes

Marin Cake Studio is a design studio, not a bakery counter. There is no case to choose from and no set of packages to pick between. Every wedding cake is designed from your venue, your palette and your theme, and carried from the first sketch to the final detail.

This is not a traditional bakery. Every creation is designed for a specific moment and made as a one-of-one work. Because of that, each one is designed rather than chosen from a case.

Share your date and vision. We will discuss your celebration, aesthetic preferences, and how the cake fits into your day

02 · Consultation

Meet at the studio to explore flavors and fillings. We will refine the design together, considering composition, palette, and texture.

03 · Creation

Your piece is designed and built by hand in the studio. Wedding cakes above our minimum are delivered and set up at the venue on the day; everything else is collected from San Rafael.

When should I order my wedding cake?

Marin Cake Studio books wedding cakes four to six weeks before the date, and three to four months for dates in peak season, May through October. We occasionally accommodate last-minute orders if our schedule allows.

Where can I get a wedding cake near me?

Marin Cake Studio is at 1545 4th Street, Suite C in San Rafael, and that is where most cakes are collected. We work with couples across Marin County — San Rafael, Mill Valley, Novato, Tiburon, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Sausalito, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Kentfield, Greenbrae and Belvedere — and wedding cakes above our minimum are delivered and set up at the venue rather than picked up.

Who traditionally pays for the wedding cake?

Most couples cover the cost of their wedding cake themselves. In some cases, family members contribute or offer it as a gift. We work directly with couples, planners, or whoever is handling the order.

How much wedding cake do I need for 100 guests?

A three- to four-tier cake usually serves around 100 people. We’ll recommend the right size based on your guest count, whether you’re serving other desserts, and how large you want the slices to be.

Do you offer cake tastings?

Marin Cake Studio offers tastings by request. You can try our most popular flavors and discuss your ideas during a consultation. Let us know your wedding date and we’ll help schedule a time that works for you.

Can I customize the look of my wedding cake?

Absolutely. You can choose the size, number of tiers, flavor, color palette, florals, textures, and overall design. Bring inspiration photos or describe your vision, and we’ll take care of the rest.

How much does a wedding cake cost in Marin County?

Marin Cake Studio quotes every wedding cake individually rather than working from a fixed rate, because the figure follows the work. Tier count and guest count set the base, and hand-piped detail, sugar flowers and the internal structure that holds a tall cake account for most of the difference between two cakes that feed the same number of people. Wedding cakes above our minimum are delivered and set up at the venue, and we confirm that minimum with the quote. You’ll have the full figure in writing before anything is booked, and a 50% deposit holds your date.
